Melainia
Hello my name is Melainia and I am married to Justin. I found this Ecovillage online by chance, and contacted Tao right about the time he first came to the land to begin things in earnest. I am interested in having less things and having the things I do have mean more to me. My ultimate goal is to live in the Ecovillage together with my husband as a part of the community, and expand my skill set to include making almost everything I need from what is available from the land.
Aside from sustainability in the physical sense, I am also interested in a more sustainable and fulfilling emotional life with deeper connections to the people I live around. It will be a difficult yet worthy and fascinating endeavor to learn how to get along with, and live in close connection to, people who are not my family members.
Right now I am working at a not for profit scientific research facility. I do believe in the mission of the facility and I love working there, but would rather be making my life everyday rather than devoting my life to making money. At this point I must make that money, in order to settle debts I gathered before I realized just how restricting they would be to my freedom. I make the best of it and find ways to be happy, since this is my number one goal in life: to be happy, and to surround myself with people I love and who love me.
Some of my interests include: reading, photography, singing, knitting, sewing, making jewelry, an occasional video game, and basically trying to figure out ways to make anything I desire. I have varying success at the the things I do, but believe strongly in the skill that comes with long practice. I enjoy spending time with Justin and our dog Ulie and cats Max and Stanley. And Ulie LOVES spending time at the Ecovillage!
